Sorry Classmates, but since the editor spent the weekend in Huntsville participating in all the activites connected with the Homecoming, this issue will be smaller than usual, but we will make up for it next week.

I had intended to work on it in the motel room, but for some unknown reason I was unable to get a network connection to be able to get an early start on this issue, so I had to wait until I got home to get anything together.

I do want to thank all of you for your contributions to the activities and to the library donations.  We did extremely well, and put forth the challenge for other classes to do the same with their own project.

Again, I am sorry for the size of this issue, but after a weekend of non-stop partying, I'm tired.

T. Tommy

Traveller Readers
Donate $1,100
To Lee LIbrary
by Tommy Towery
Class of '64

At the Homecoming 2003 breakfast at the Lee High School cafeteria, Lee's Traveller staff member presented a check for the donations made by you readers. The total collected to be donated to the library was $1,100 and gave Lee principal Dr. Harry Smith and librarian Janice Titsworth Barnett, Class of '65, quite a shock. After the presentation, Janice confided with me that she thought perhaps the donations might be $200 to $250. The amount of the contribution for the library was not only shocking but timely, since one of the prime targets of the Alabama budget cuts were school libraries.

Janice wrote earlier, "Knowing there will be money for books this year due to the generosity of Lee's first classes is heartwarming. I will see that bookplates honoring these classes will be placed within each purchased book."

Next week's issue will have many more stories and reports of the Homecoming activitiies and we would love for those of you who attended any of the activities to send us your thoughts to share with your other classmates.

This Week's Mystery Classmates

No, it's not a Halloween costume. This is a classmate of ours who showed up at Mullins on Sunday morning for breakfast in this outfit. Can you identify this mystery classmate?

We are so sorry we are having to miss the Lee homecoming 2003.  Rich's college homecoming is that same weekend and don't want to miss GT play against NCState.  We will be tailgating with our kids
and other Techies while you all are enjoying all the festivities that Niles and other committee people have put together.  We thank them for all their hard work in the planning and carrying out of this reunion.
We have managed to keep up with Lee since my graduation in 65 through my brother Bobby (Class of 67), my sister Melanie "Muffie" (Class of 78), my sister Laurie (Class of 83), and my nephew Robbie (Class of 93).  A lot of changes have occured over those years.  It would have been wonderful to see everyone again and know you all will have  a great time.

Boy, Tommy, you have stuck your head in a hornets' nest.  I sure am glad that I don't have Barbara mad at me.  It sounds like she gets even rather than getting mad, or maybe she gets both - mad and even.

Barbara, you have nothing about which to be embarrassed.  I dare say that you were turning the boys' heads whether you were 11 or 12 or older.  I'm sure that you are still turning the heads of the male members of the species.

Hi Tommy,  Hope you are doing okay.  Sorry I missed the reunion.  Roger Pentecost told me the last day.  This is my current e-mail address so I won't miss any other functions.  Are there any monthly or weekly meetings for the class alumni?  It would be nice to see everyone more often.  Hope to see you all soon.

Just wanted to let you know I just returned from the Sacramento area of California. My father passed away on Sept. 21st and we had a memorial for him in California. He actually lived in Folsom, CA. Originally from Pennsylvania, he and my stepmother had migrated to CA about 15 years ago. She passed away seven years ago, and dad decided he loved the area so much, he wanted to stay. One of his favorite places was the San Francisco Bay area. We went to the Golden Gate Bridge and took some photos. It is a breathtaking view.

Hope everyone has a great time at the 2003 Homecoming. I will be thinking of you all.

Cruise Cancelled For Lack of Response

The cruise that Eddie Sykes had scheduled for this group has been cancelled.  Eddie wrote this week that no one had signed up for the cruise and that the time window had been shut and forced him to cancel it.  Perhaps we can try this later and give more of you a little more time to make your plans.
