Please include your class year with your e-mails.

We'd like to issue a special welcome to the "lost" classmates that have contacted us and are planning to come to the reunion.  We are looking forward to seeing you!

But it seems we may have lost some classmates that had previously been "found" because they have not responded back in any way, shape, or form to the reunion letter that was sent to the last contact address we had on them.

Please remember that even if you are not planning to come to the reunion, we would like to have your current contact info for the handbook.  And if you don't want to have your current whereabouts printed in the handbook, let us know that too and we will honor your request to be removed from your class roster.

As the reunion date gets closer and reunion plans progress, we will be posting those details on the website.  So be sure to check in every week!!

There are only a limited number of rooms left at the Marriott for August 20 & 21.  As stated in an earlier update, hotel rooms & prices are at a premium this summer due to the Star Wars Exhibit that will be at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center.  The rooms at the Marriott are $109.00 per night ($123.20 including tax).  When making reservations, be sure to mention that you are attending the Lee High School 64'65'66 reunion and request a poolside room if at all possible - unless you would rather not have a poolside room.  The Marriott will do their best to honor requests.

Remember, we want to hear from you even if you are not able to attend so that we will have your current contact information for the handbook that will be given out at the reunion.  If you are unable to attend the reunion and would like a handbook, arrangements can be made to send you a copy.

The reunion class contacts are:

Class of ’64 – Linda Taylor
lktaylor731@aol.com

Class of ’65 – Sarajane Steigerwald Tarter
1965lhs2010@gmail.com

Class of ’66 – Judy Fedrowisch Kincaid and Kathy Harris Jones
jfk19662010@hotmail.com

Please send an email to your contact and include: Class year, first name; last name at time of graduation; married name (if applicable); spouse’s name (if applicable); street address; city; state; zip code; home ( H ) or cell ( C ) phone number (which ever you prefer); e-mail address; and occupation.

Even if you do not plan to attend or are not sure if you’ll be able to attend the upcoming reunion, please send in your information.  And please encourage other classmates that you may be in contact with to do the same.

And check the Traveller each week for planning updates.

In my research in the Huntsville Library this past week I found the map above in the 1962 City Directory which shows all of the stores in the Five Points Shopping Center.

Thanks to all of you who sent me your own ideas about which stores were there.

Highlights of My
Huntsville Trip
by Tommy Towery
Class of '64

Sue and I arrived in Huntsville on Monday afternoon just in time to check into our room and rush over to join the reunion committee at their planning meeting. You should all be grateful to the group of classmates who are spending so much time and energy in a supreme effort to make this next reunion a great one. Letters were addressed and sent out to all of the classmates who have yet to respond and do not have email addresses. Afterwards a few of us went to Bob Gibson's BBQ place so that Sue could try the white BBQ sauce that she has been reading about in Southern Living.

Tuesday Sue and I were at the library at the 9am opening and she started doing family research while I started hitting the photograph collection and the books and newspaper microfilm. We closed the library at 9 that night, and repeated that ritual for the rest of the week.

We took our own lunch and most days went down to the Big Spring Park and had picnic lunches, except for Friday when we met Niles Prestage and Sarajane Steigerwald Tarter at the Greek restaurant on the South Side of the Square.

Saturday morning we had breakfast at Mullins again, this time with Dianne Hughey McClure and her grand-daughter Cheyenne. After that we went over to the Mill and visited with the Lincoln Village folks that were having their reunion.

It was back to the Library for five more hours in the freezing cold and then we took a little photographic excursion. Saturday evening we went to Lowe's Mill with Linda Taylor to hear a cigar-box guitar concert.

One more day of research at the short library hours on Sunday and on Monday we head back to Memphis.

I have done extremely well on finding some things I was looking for but still have a great desire for a couple of more photos. Please, if any of you have pictures of any of the places below, let me know.

Carter's Skateland from the front.
Mullin's Cafe when it was on Stevens - inside or out
Bradley's Cafeteria from the front
The Rebel Inn - inside or out

If you can find any of these then please contact me ASAP. Thank you.

This Week's
Mystery Photo
Which store downtown sold pre-tested Poll Parrot shoes for boys and girls? There was a sign that advertised them hanging on the building.

Second question - a request from a reader is responsible for the second question. Which clothing store do you remember shopping for clothes in when you were in high school? For the males, what was your favorite men's clothing store and for the females, what was your favoried women's apparel store. Expanded stories as to why you selected which store is appreciated.

This is open to all readers so please put your name, school, and class year with your answers.
