Hits this issue!
Memphis, TN - I hope each of you has a great Memorial Day weekend. I do not ignore Memorial Day, but I have historically used Veteran's Day as the day when the Traveller salutes all the veterans, not just the ones that died fighting for our freedom. I am sad to report this week the loss of two more classmates.

Please include your class year with your e-mails.
T. Tommy

Huntsville, Alabama 35805
Phone:  1-256-830-2222

Next committee meeting on
Monday, June 7, at 5:15

Responses to the reunion letter that was sent out several weeks ago are coming in daily.  A second letter will go out to classmates that have not responded by June 7th (the next reunion committee meeting).  So help us save on postage by sending in your response before that date!

As of May 28th there are only a limited number of rooms left at the Marriott for August 20 & 21.  As stated in an earlier update, hotel rooms & prices are at a premium this summer due to the Star Wars Exhibit that will be at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center.  The rooms at the Marriott are $109.00 per night ($123.20 including tax).  When making reservations, be sure to mention that you are attending the Lee High School 64'65'66 reunion and request a poolside room if at all possible - unless you would rather not have a poolside room.  The Marriott will do their best to honor requests.

Remember, we want to hear from you even if you are not able to attend so that we will have your current contact information for the handbook that will be given out at the reunion.  If you are unable to attend the reunion and would like a handbook, arrangements can be made to send you a copy.

The reunion class contacts are:

Class of ’64 – Linda Taylor
lktaylor731@aol.com

Even if you do not plan to attend or are not sure if you’ll be able to attend the upcoming reunion, please send in your information.  And please encourage other classmates that you may be in contact with to do the same.

And check the Traveller each week for planning updates.

Just wanted to let you know that I became a six time Grandfather at 12:03 a.m. on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 – when Presley Stella Williams decided she was ready to come into this world at 8 lbs 1 once ( that now makes 4 girls and 2 boys )  –  mother and baby are healthy with no problems – it was amazing to hold a newborn granddaughter less than 15 minutes after she was born – we passed her around (very carefully) like a football - my son is a little weary since he thinks he did all the work – but his work is yet to come – he will some day have three teenage daughters to deal with at the same time – I wish him luck.

No gifts please ( I mean for me ) I didn’t do a whole lot.

Vicki continues her regime of pain medication and chemo therapy.  There are periods of relatively normal activity followed by periods of sleep.  She is beginning to show some signs of the minor side effects of the chemo.  She generally has a good appetite…but she never has been known to eat much.  She has been enjoying comfort foods more frequently…i.e. potato chips, M&M’s, twizzlers.

Last Wednesday she was able to attend our evening choir rehearsal followed Thursday morning by a trip to Wal-Mart at 5am for our weekly shopping and DFW airport at 7:30am to take our son and daughter-in-law to catch a flight to see the new born child to Shannon’s brother near Indianapolis.  From all the singing and visiting she lost her voice for a day or so and she required a lot of rest over the next couple of days.

She attended morning worship Sunday but still had no voice or energy to sing with the choir.  It was good for her to be out and she was greeted by so many of our local friends. She was feeling rather puny again yesterday and today and had to pass on this evening’s choir rehearsals.  I hate going without her but she insists that I go. One of her classmates from Riverdale High School called the other day.  It really cheered her up.

We are still planning our two 3-4 day weekend trips this summer for high school class reunions and over Labor Day to visit my mother in outside of Nashville.

We have an appointment with her oncologist next Tuesday morning.  We had lab work done yesterday in preparation for that.  I will send out another update next week.

Again, we thank you for all your cards and letters.
