MEMPHIS, TN - Remember Memorial Day. Thanks to all of you Classmates who have sent me e-mails reminding me to make note of the importance of Memorial Day for many of us. I could fill a long column with the names of those that I will remember on that special day - way too many friends, gone way too early in their lives.

Please include your class year with your e-mails.

What Was in that Room?
by Tommy Towery
Class of '64

In my stash of stuff I came across my Student Handbook from the '63-'64 school year when I was a senior. The centerfold contained a drawing of the layout of the school. I know I don't have to remind you what the school looked like, but I should point out that the drawing above is the wing that was the one that was on the left front of the school when you faced it. The auditorium was to the right. I don't think I ever realized that it was called "A" wing.

I have taken the drawing and erased the names of the activities that took place in the rooms labeled A-B-C-D-E. Who can put on their thinking caps and tell me what was the official activities that took place in each of these rooms in 1964? I left the restrooms and the storage rooms labeled. As a bonus, which restroom (top or bottom) was the girl's?

Please put you class year with your answers.

Gary Grimme, Class of '68 - A favorite when I was a kid, the show was "Wild Bill Hickock", and have not ever seen this show again. I remember he had a comic sidekick, "Jingles", which was played by Andy Devine. The best western movie Guy Madison was in had to be "The Charge At Feather River", which came about the same time as the TV show.

Chip Smoak, Class of '66 - I believe that the name of the TV show was "The Adventures of Wild Bill Hickok" which co-starred Andy Devine as his sidekick Jingles.

Linda Beal Walker, Class of '66 - I have to admit I cheated on this mystery photo answer.  The only answer I could think of was Jock Mahoney, but he was Range Rider, so I googled Guy Madison and found out he was Wild Bill Hickock.  I loved both of these old western series. Does anyone know which well known popular actress is Jock Mahoney's stepdaughter?

Subject:Building Near Optimist Park?

I was wondering and I was in my pre-teens but there used to be a building that was real long and the door was always open. It was located about 50 yards across from the entrance gate to Optimist Park probably in someones back yard. All the kids that lived around the area used to go in and explore inside of it. It had old boy scout stuff in it and was real dusty. Was it an old boy scout meeting place? Does anyone remember this place?

Hi!  This is Bob Cochran, the "king of screwups!"  My flying fingers are definitely NOT under my control, I've spent the morning trying to compose this message.

If you would please be so kind as to forward my e-mail address to my LEE HIGH SCHOOL friends for life, I'd REALLY appreciate it!!!  I like St. Louis, but I sure like HUNTSVILLE better!!!

I'm hoping that I can find a nice, reasonably-priced home in the area, and move back to town.

Again, PLEASE pass along my e-mail address to as many of our classmates as you can. Thanks so very much!

Visit With A Classmate
by Tommy Towery
Class of '64

I had a great lunch and a nice talk with Don Stroud this week during one of his trips to Memphis. He took me to lunch at Corky's Bar-B-Q and we chowed down on a Memphis specialty.

We spent a lot of time catching up on retirement plans and talked a lot about cars and the price of gas. In the process he also reassured me that his mother is still a great fan of Lee's Traveller and that he is still expected to print it out and take a copy to her at church so she can keep up with what all is going on with her former students.

I hope any of you that travel to Memphis will follow Don's example and give me a call so we can go to lunch and talk over old times.
