I began a career in broadcasting at WAAY Radio in 1962 during high school. In 1964, I went to work at WAAY-TV as a broadcast engineer. From 1965-1973, I was in production at MMSC-TV, a Department of the Army installation on Redstone Arsenal. In 1974, I moved to Idaho and became Director of Operations at KIVI-TV in Boise, ID. I returned to Huntsville at WAFF-TV in 1977 as an account executive and became station manager in 1978. In 1979, I moved to WTOC-TV (CBS) in Savannah, GA, as Station Manager. During the 70's and 80's, I anchored newscasts; wrote, directed, announced, and produced commercials and local programming in addition to my management job. In Savannah in 1980, I won the TV Station of the Year Award from the Georgia Association of Broadcasters. I and my production crews also won over 30 ADDY awards for commercials that we produced. In the mid-80's I moved into computing. Since 1990, I have been on government Information Technology contracts for NASA with Boeing and SAIC at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, the Johnson Space Center in Houston, and NASA HQ in Washington, DC. |
