Well readers, we're moving forward and looking backwards. What a great world to live in. We will continue our Reunion memories, don't worry, but we are also going to continue to dig up some of the memories of the past as well. That's what is so great about doing this newspaper. I hope that is what makes you read it as well. You never know what you are going to see when you open it up each week.

Now that the reunion is over and many of you have become aware of Lee's Traveller for the first time, I would like to make an announcement. We're looking to expand our staff. We need some new talent to augment the staff we currently list. Many of them started out as writers, but over the last five years seem to sometimes run out of new ideas for stories. We are looking for new people with new stories to help fill this newspaper each week. As I mentioned, we have 260 issues to publish between now and the next major reunion.

If you have ever had a desire to document some of your early days, or have stories to share with the rest of your friends, we're giving you an opportunity of a lifetime.

Since there is no charge for the paper, you'll start out with the same salary that the other staff members did - absolutely nothing. But you will get a great thrill each week to see the reactions to your stories, and that, as they say in the TV ads, is priceless.

E-mail me if you are interested.

Please include your name and class year with your e-mail to me.
T. Tommy

What do I have to do to purchase a CD of the photos taken at the reunion?
Thanks for your publicity and encouragement for the event.  My wife and I had a great time.

(Editor's Note: Contact a member of the reunion committee, they should know. We'll be able to tell you better when we hear something final. Also order a mousepad from them so you can have our website address handy.)

In one of the previous issues you had pictures from a former reunion, either 03 or 00 where you could see the person's name and picture from the annual which I really enjoyed studying.  I can't find it now and wondered if it has been removed.

Can you help me identify the issue?  It was up until right before the August reunion and maybe even after it, but I can't find it now.

Thanks for all you do and I loved the reunion.

(Editor's Note: I think you are talking about the "Now And Then" link we have at the top left of each week's Lee's Traveller. Those are from the 2000 Reunion.

Who Are You?

This is the beginning of a new series to identify those who responded to the "Who Are You?" question request at the "Still Alive in 2005" Reunion. Can you guess which Classmate sent in these facts about the least know things about him/her self?

Update on Katrina
And Silverhill, AL
by Collins (CE) Wynn
Class of ‘64

Thought I’d drop a note to our website to check up and check in.  Big news here of course is the storm.  We weathered it fine with a good bit of debris but no structural or water damage to our home.  Our residence is about 7-8 miles east of Mobile Bay and 20 or so miles north of the Gulf.  We finally returned to somewhat of a normal routine on Tuesday, the 6th.

For us the story is one of a lot of labor – this past summer I made a hurricane kit for the house consisting of covers and anchors for every window and door.  It turns out that putting all that stuff up and taking it all down is about a three day job for a 60 year old guy with an additional three or four days required for recovery.  Putting those things up on the 2nd floor windows is a bit of a trick in itself.  We have put them up and taken them down twice now in about two months.  Many people here are just leaving them up for the entire season and I’m beginning to consider that a good idea even if it does look terrible.  But I don’t think my property manager (that’d be Judy) is going to go for that.  For the foreseeable future it’ll be “put’em up; take’em down”.

There are many evacuees in our area and many are already registering in our schools.  My school expects to grow by several hundred and, I understand, the State Board of Education has already announced a waiver of class size limitations so that we can accommodate every student.

We have several displaced New Orleans families living in our vacation home about 30 miles north of Mobile and expect that they will be there some time; perhaps a year or longer…………..they have nothing left.  They were referred to us by people we know and trust.  In my view it would be very unwise to take someone into your home without some knowledge of them which is a quandary many of us are going to face in the future.

Judy and I are blessed in many ways.

Kickoff of
The "Huntsville In 1962" Challenge
by Tommy Towery
Class of '64
Okay all you kids in the "Peanut Gallery" we've got a new contest starting this week and it's going to be challenging. Everything doesn't have to be reunion related. The Lee's Traveller staff has decided that it is up to us to keep your minds sharp so we are going to force you to use some of those old brain cells that have been resting way too long.

Last week we showed a satellite photo of Lee High School as it is today. The other day, the editor came upon a site that had a pretty good aerial photograph taken in 1962 of the Huntsville area. We didn't have many satellite photos back then, but had to rely on aerial photos taken by private companies or with Spy Planes such as the U-2 flown by Francis Gary Powers. Remember him? Anyway we found one of those photos and saw an opportunity to have some memories and fun with it. We are going to feature sections of this photograph each week and see if you can identify the location and prehaps the buildings or other features shown.

Some will be easier that others. We're starting out with a hard one I believe, but not such a challenge that it will stump-the-band. I can tell you one thing about the above photo already. It shows one thing that I had almost entirely forgotten about and gave out an "Oh, yeah! I do remember that," when I saw it. By the way, as a hint, this doesn't exist today.

Send in your guess on what it is, and any story that you wish to share about some of the buildings or objects pictured.

No, it's not Moe, Larry, and Curley. It's not even Larry, Darrel, and his other brother Darrel, but that might be more of a clue to the detectives among you.  Who are these brightly colored and apparently happy Classmates at the Friday night get-together at the Reunion?

We're looking for a caption for this photo taken at the reunion.  Any suggestions? Anyone know the classmates?
