ESCONDIDO, CA - I don't know if you are all just taking pity on me since I am on the road or if I have hit a dry spell in coming up with things you find interesting, but either way it has made publishing the web site while traveling easy. This week's issue will also be short. On Monday we will begin our trek trying to get back to Memphis. Since we are determined to fly via military space-A hops, who knows which route will eventually get us home. Life is an adventure...enjoy it.

Please include your class year with your e-mails.

Local Specialities
by Tommy Towery
Class of '64

While visiting my daughter Tiffany this weekend, she took us on a ride up into a small town near here that is famous for apple pies. Julian, California is an old gold mining town that is now a popular tourist spot and although the gold is gone, the apples that grow there and the pies made from them are a must-have when you visit there. The above photo is of Tiffany, me, and Sue at the pie factory.

This got me to thinking about other food specialities that are things you have to have when you visit somewhere. This week I invite all of you who still live in Huntsville to email us telling us where you just have to take your out-of-town visitors when they come to Huntsville to visit. It is not just where you eat all the time, but where do you feel you have to take someone who has never visited Huntsville to give them the real taste-of-Huntsville.

For those of you, like me, who have moved away, where in the place where you now live do you have to take folks who come to visit you. If Sue and I came to pay you a visit, where would you take us and what would you feel we had to try if we went out to eat with you?

Please send your name and class year with your replies.

Subject:Memorable Football Games
Rod Dixon
Class of '69

One of the most memorable games occured in 1967 as Lee beat Butler 13-7 for the first time ever if I remember correctly.  At that time all city games were at Milton Frank and you had to get there about 5:30 if you wanted a seat.  It was always standing room only.  Greg Patterson was the quarterback and he along with several Generals are members of the Madison County Sports Hall of Fame.  Some include Steve Wilson, Dave Beck and I am sure others I may not be aware of.

A PS to the story.  Greg went on to a stellar coaching career at Huntsville High of all places!!!
