Burr...it's cold in Memphis this weekend. It would be a great time to live in Florida or at least to have another spring break!

Please include your class year with your e-mails.

We only had one response to the photo above and it was wrong. It was not 1990 at the Sherraton on University. It was before then. Any other souls want to venture a guess as to when and where the photo was taken? You can click on it for a larger version.

Linda Beal Walker, Class of '66 - (Linda scores 9.5 out of 10 because of her answer to  8.  Looks like another flavor of Old Spice.) Memories, memories, memories, even for a shy highschool girl like me:

After graduation, I worked with a young man that wore Canoe.  I followed him like a puppy dog.  Not only did he smell good but is was REALLY cute too.

Sandra Parks Bozeman  Class of '67 -  (9.5 for same reason as above.)My Dad used Old Spice and to this day I love that spicy scent!!!

Mike Griffith, Class of  '66 - (9.7) You missed one ... after our BB (Before Beatles) flat-top, the barber would slap a little "Pinaud" powder on a whisk bush and dust the back of our necks. As a young kid, I can remember watching them shave someone (after applying hot lather and sharpening their straight-razor on a leather strap) and then applying "Pinaud - Clubman" after shave. I always wanted to get a shave like that, but when I finally did I was overseas in the Army and was disappointed that there was no "Pinaud."

The barber I use now does not offer shaves, as he says that people will not pay for the amount of labor involved, but he does have a bottle of "Pinaud - Clubman" on his counter.

Also I agree with Charlie Hancock in that every time I catch a whiff of burning diesel fuel, I think of mornings in Viet Nam (unlike Charlie, during the local holidays, when the hired papa-sans didn't come and burn it, we had to ... that's when everyone wanted to be outside the wire rather than in base-camp; Charlie must have been Air Force).

Kevin Rice - (Best score of all - a perfect 10 if you don't count off for spelling.) As usual site looking great as usual.  Couldn't resist jumping in on this one. Many good memory associated with most of those bottles.

1.  Brut
2.  British Sterling.......wow how could any young girl resist that aroma
3.  Canoe..............wow how could any young girl resist that aroma.
4. English Leather.....I used it over at Chapman on my practice jersey.
After awhile of hanging in the locker with my sweat it did smell like a stable. lol
5. Hi Karate
6. Jade East.....another good one
7. 007
8.Old Spice Lime scent.....as othere OS orginal was one of my early ones and the wake up sting it gave me made me think twice about shaving. I've had a beard since 1972.
9. Aqua Velva...................pretty good with a beer chaser
10. Mennon Skin Bracer.......pretty good with a beer chaser

Keep up the good times

Barb Biggs Knott, Class of '66 - (7) Like just about everyone else, I knew last week’s bottle was Old Spice. This week’s contest was a little more difficult. I think I got most of them, but nos. 5 and 7 just stumped me. Here are my guesses: Out of all of the above, Brut was my favorite.

Subject:Back Issues
Linda Kinkle Cianci
Class of '66

Just now reading back issues after many weeks with no time (had twin granddaughters born in January). Always great to read everyone's comments.

My sister gave me the first season of "Leave it to Beaver" on CD last year, in a nifty little metal Beaver lunchbox. Mike and I have enjoyed watching these "age of innocence" shows with our four-year old grandson.  After one such day, just before Jake turned four, he returned home and informed his parents he would just run away and never come back if they didn't let him do what he wanted. They were speechless and baffled. A couple of days later, it dawned on me where he'd gotten the idea. The last episode of Beaver we had watched was the one where he ran away from home, climbed a tree, and refused to come down at his parents' pleading, saying his dad would beat him. As Ward said, "why Beaver, you know I'd never beat you..", Beaver replied ..and was quickly hushed.. "uh huh, Dad, remember that time...."

Then there was the episode where one of Beaver's friends took Ward's electric drill and drilled lots of holes in the garage door.  Everyone should watch these old episodes with their grandchildren (and children). They're a hoot!

Okay, it is ladies time. Here's one for you girls (or guys) to identify. It is a vintage smell, which originated in 1932 and continues on today.
