E-mail has been a little slow this week but the readership has continued at about the same rate, so apparently no one has much to say - you just want to read. I'll warn you right now that next week's Traveller will not be published until Sunday night probably. Sue and I are going on a trip to middle Tennesee to look for a retirement area and we won't get back until Sunday night. We're staying at Tim's Ford State Park and will not have internet access, so I won't be getting the Traveller out until Sunday night when we return.
Please include your class year with your e-mails.
T. Tommy

This Week's
Mystery Photo
From Our
Mailbox
Jeff Fussell, Class of '66 - Week befor last's photo was a puzzler. I could only be sure of two things: (1) It wasn't a "Star Trek" logo -- although it was tempting and (2) it was a logo of some kind.-- but WHAT? Good one.
This week's photo is a little more familiar to me. Sung to the tune of "The Bear Went Over the Mountain", the song was:
"Let's all go to the lobby ...
... and get ourselves a treat!"
As a kid, I never missed an opportunity to do just that. My movie-time favorite was was a big ol' honkin' box of Nestlé's Sno-Caps. When the candy was gone, I'd tear the flaps off one end and blow in it, making an annoying duck call racket. Anyway, it was disruptive and that was the important thing. I got busted by the theater manager (oh, noooo) calling ducks with my Sno-Caps box. He marched me out to the lobby and made me throw it away and promise to never do it again or else suffer permanent banishment from the theater. I don't think that threat would get much traction today, but it scared me straight. I still love Sno-Caps, but I keep the rest of it to myself. Thanks for another good memory.
Only five weeks until the get-together. Tommy Towery is going to bring a cake. Annette McCraney is bringing charcoal and 10 lbs. of chicken to cook on-site. She also suggested that someone bring the fixin's for homemade ice cream. Even though this is an informal gathering, we do need to get a few things organized. A head count and what you're planning to bring (either a covered dish, ice, plates, utensils, beverages, etc) would be helpful. So if you're planning to attend, please let Tommy know so that he can relay the information. Remember, everyone is invited. If you missed the last "big" reunion last year, this is another opportunity to connect with some old friends and maybe even make some "new" old friends. I can tell you from experience that working on and attending the other reunions we've had has been a great way to get to know some classmates that I did not get to know very well 40 years ago. And those of you that never miss a chance to get-together - I'll see you soon!!

Subject:Mr. Fox

Class of '64
I was in a friend's office yesterday and looked closely at a picture he had of his 1960 Sigma Nu class. Mr. Thomas Fox was in it. I told my friend that he had taught me chemistry in high school and he wondered if I could find an address for Mr. Fox. Tommy, do you know where he is - or could you ask if anyone knows? Thanks so much.
Would love to come to 60th birthday party but it is same day, same time as my Mother's family reunion in Ft. Payne. Hope you or someone comes up with another reason very soon for another party!

Is there anything worth rushing back for a holiday weekend that you have not had in almost 30 years? Mary and I were on our way to Maine for the Labor Day weekend when Ernesto changed some plans. Flights were cancelled and rebookings made it difficult for an airline employee and his wife who travel standby to make connections. We made it as far as Washington D. C.and since we had not been there together in almost 40 years decided to spend the weekend there.
On Monday morning we received a call about 5:00 AM that our oldest daughter was going into labor and going to the hospital. We made quick scheduled changes and were about to get back home on the first flight, arriving at 10:15 AM. Dean Aiden Vicuna made his appearance at 10:20 AM. Attached is a picture of the best looking Labor Day give anyone could receive. He weighs 8 lb. 5 oz and is 20 1/2 inches long and has more hair than his grandfather. Dean is our third grandson, joining brothers Mark, 16 and Zane almost 3.

We Turned Over the 100,000 Mark
Tommy Towery
Class of '64
Gwen Ellett, Lee High School Class of 1974 pushed the web site hits over the 100,000 mark last mark, and was nice enough to send an e-mail with that info.
It is also an anniversary almost - September 11, 2001 was the last date that we did not put out an issue of Lee's Traveller. That means that we have not missed a week putting out an issue for the last five years (260 weekly issues in a row). I would say that is a reason to celebrate.
I think that it is only fitting to mention the saying that Gwen puts on the bottom of her e-mails. It is one that we used to use a lot in some earlier issues of Lee's Traveller.
Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
Let's hope we can go another five years without missing an issue. Who knows what we'll be doing with the web that far in advance. I want to stick around to find out.
