Please join us for a winter get together on a Carnival cruise. The Carnival Holiday will sail Thursday afternoon February 19, 2004 from New Orleans for a four day cruise and return on Monday morning Feb 23rd. The ship will travel down the Mississippi River and through the Gulf of Mexico for two days before reaching beautiful Cozumel Mexico. The ship returns to New Orleans the day before the Mardi Gras celebration of Fat Tuesday. (The day most people refer to as Mardi Gras, although the celebration is month long) The temperatures in Cozumel are about 80 year round. The temperature in New Orleans is usually 10 to 15 degrees warmer than Huntsville that time of year. Bring a sweater.
We have arranged special group rates for cruise only from $399. Other travel arrangements or cabin selections are available through our cruise agent, Jeff Maul. He will be arranging booking for us. Our group name is Lee High Cruise. He is with St. Armanda Travel and can be reached @ 1-800-233-5339 or by e-mail at geoffmaul2@netscape.net. He will also make hotel accommodations if you would like to stay over in New Orleans. This price does include port charges but there is also an additional tax of $16.55. Parking at port runs about $10 per day.
You can reserve your place with a $200 refundable deposit. We have 20+ cabins held until October 22 at that price. You can still book after that date but price is based on availability. The deposit can be made over the phone with a credit card and is fully refundable up to December 22, when the total payment is due. Please fill free to call for additional information or e-mail me (Eddie Sykes) at LeeHighCruise@aol.com. I have set up a special e-mail to answer questions and send out information. I will answer e-mails daily or at least every other day.
Again, you can go the www.carnival.com and select funship: HOLIDAY and get information about this cruise. So, pass the word along to friends and other classmates. Anyone, is welcome to join in with us or take advantage to this group price. You do not have to be a graduate of LHS.
Additional Information
A cruise is really a cheep, stress-free, way to vacation compared to staying in a motel, eating out, and entertainment expense associated with most normal vacations. All these expenses are Included in the price. Although price varies depending on the room category. The inside rooms do not have a view but are the least expensive at $399 per person for a Cat 4A (nice cabin). The outside rooms (same cabin with a window) are $449 per person and are Cat 6A. Rooms with a private outside balcony are more expensive. Larger Suites that can accommodate up to 4 people are more, but the charge for 3rd and 4th person is only $199 each. My experience has been to go as cheep as possible because you are usually only in your room to rest, sleep, or change clothes.
Other expenses include tips, the cost of alcohol, sodas, and excursions. Each ship has a recommended tip per day per person for the waiters and room steward. It is generally $5 and $3.50 respectively and is charged to your room. You are allowed to adjust that amount up or down with no hassle. Tips for beverage purchases are added into the price. Tea, coffee, and juices are free and readily available. You can walk off the boat into port and explore the area on your own or you can book one of the many excursions. They usually run $30 - $75 per person. You can usually book something similar on shore a little cheaper, but you pay a little more for the connivence. You can also stay on the ship and enjoy the pool, spa, or other available activities.
Meals are served around the clock in port or out. Room service is available 24hrs and is free, but a tip is expected. Three sit-down meals ordered from a menu are served in the dinning room each day. Seating is assigned at the evening meal only. (You can prearrange who you wish to sit with). However, there is an open buffet open for all meals in case you want something quick. Most ships also serve a mid-night buffet. You never get hungry after your fist meal. There are also pizza, burgers, hot dogs, and fries served at poolside. Special diet requests are no problem, but must be requested in advance.
Any charges made while on board are charged to your room (even excursions) and there is NO need for cash on ship. You will need two forms of identification (one with a picture) to board the ship in New Orleans. You will then be issued a ship ID/Credit card ( that is tied to a credit card or cash deposit). That ID has your picture on it and is used for all charges on ship and is all that you need to return to the ship from port. Charges are usually available for review on your in room TV. Several movies are running 24 hours a day on the TV in your room or in a theater. News about the ports, excursions, and on board activities are shown on one of your TV channels. A daily news letter is slid under your door each night informing you of tomorrows activities. There are dozens of bars, night clubs, disco etc on ship. Live music is always going on in one or more areas. There i! s a Broadway type musical production most nights as well as comedy shows, and participation activities. Bingo and Casino action is available for those who like. Each ship also has a full spa, workout room, and walking/running track.
Please forward this email to any classmates or friends that might be interested. My wife, Susan, and I usually cruise alone and make new friends with the people we meet., So, don't fill like you have to know someone to come along. We will setup some day and evening meeting places on ship or special activities for those that wish to participate. You request seating together with people traveling together in your group and/or be seated in a common area for our group. There will also be a complimentary cocktail party for our group to meet the 1st night. We'll arrange all the fun. |
