By ANTHONY MCCARTNEY

A week after Gov. Don Siegelman and others in the Alabama Legislature announced that the long-awaited $110 million parks improvement bonds are on track, the plans for refurbishing the old tavern at Monte Sano State Park were unveiled this morning. The $2.5 million plan will include renovations of the stone tavern near Monte Sano's amphitheater. The tavern, which burned in 1947, will be used as a community meeting place.''The main part of this plan is to put this tavern back together,'' said State Conversation Commissioner Riley Smith.

NOTE:
I'm looking for someone to send me some personal memories of this place.
